Tees Demolition Experts Aim for £5m Turnover in New Premises
A Tees-based company, meeting growing demand across the UK for demolition and asbestos removal services, has ambitious plans to double its turnover to £5 million within the next two years.
GLC Projects, established by Graeme Cochrane in 2019, is preparing for significant expansion from its new base at UKSE’s Innovation Centre in Hartlepool. With a highly skilled team of 20, the company now has the space it needs to continue growing and create more jobs.
A Strong Track Record in Demolition and Asbestos Removal
GLC Projects has built an impressive portfolio of contracts, delivering demolition services nationwide, including site clearance, mechanical demolition and dismantling, material processing, and civil engineering. Their expertise in asbestos removal is in particularly high demand.
The company recently secured its largest contract to date with Northumbrian Water Group, which will see them working on projects across the region for up to 12 years. Other clients include North Yorkshire Council, Barrow-in-Furness Borough Council, Synchronicity Care, NHS hospitals, local authorities, schools, and development corporations. GLC Projects has also been involved in works for Strabag UK Ltd as part of the HS2 Segment Factory in Hartlepool.
Expert Team with Ambitious Growth Plans
“Demolition, decommissioning, and asbestos removal are specialised, highly regulated services,” said Graeme Cochrane. “We are accredited contractors and members of associations including ACAD, ASESA, and the British Safety Council. Our goal is to be a leading player in the enabling works sector, with professionalism and integrity at the core of everything we do.”
GLC Projects also undertakes civil engineering work across the North East, acting as both a subcontractor and principal contractor.
A Passion for Industry Growth and Apprenticeships
Graeme, a chartered engineer and surveyor with 20 years of experience in construction, started GLC Projects with a long-standing ambition to be a business owner. One of his key goals is to improve the sector’s image and provide apprenticeships to encourage young people to pursue careers in demolition.
“The Innovation Centre is the perfect environment for us,” Graeme added, “and we may soon need more space. The support from the UKSE team allows us to focus on growing the business.”
Support for Growing Businesses from UKSE
Joan Cook, Workspace Manager for UKSE, said: “There are more than fifty businesses based at our Hartlepool Innovation Centre, and it’s a supportive community. We’re thrilled that GLC Projects is thriving and planning to create more jobs, and we’ll continue to support them as they grow.”
